Rally Pictures + Reports

Pictures of the Rodney Stoke Rally

Lovely site and the weather has been very kind to us with only a drop of rain at night but some days had a cold chill but it didn’t stop everyone enjoying themselves.

We have had two enjoyable social nights in the function room, one great group meal in the pub and a boules competition.

Wednesday afternoon farewell drinks went down well.

Thank you to all who attended I think we all enjoyed ourselves.

We Thoroughly enjoyed Rodney Stoke and would like to thank you both for making the rally such a success. The eleven days spent amongst good friends in beautiful Somerset just flew by. We were sad to leave.      Thanks again. Rex & Sylvia

Ambleside Rally 2019

Twenty six outfits attended the 2019 Ambleside RCA rally in glorious weather every day which not only pleased the several walkers but those wishing less active leisure time. Godfrey,Roe, Bernard and Rhoda made our rally very enjoyable with on field boules, a social evening in the , on site, rugby clubhouse where a very welcome ploughman’s meal was served up and followed by trifle which were available in a choice of flavours.

The rally ended on the Sunday morning with the rally officers presenting the prizes for the various quizzes, boules and bingo they had run.

Thank you officers, excellent rally.

RCA Matlock Rally took place in June 2019 with Rally officers Graham,Elizabeth, Brian and Marie giving their all to make sure all present on the rally enjoyed themselves. We had very good weather on the whole, and at our disposal we had the Matlock rugby ground clubhouse for activities almost nightly. Games on these evenings resulted in great hilarity and the evenings thoroughly enjoyed.

On a “free day” the option of a barge trip on the canal was arranged for a charge and 20 took advantage to join in the offer.

A pie and pea supper plus a pudding, was available on the Friday night at a reasonable cost.

Our last rally day on the Saturday was a free day but at 6pm in the clubhouse a Ploughman’s Supper was prepared by the officers and served up this was very enjoyable.

This excellent rally hopefully will continue at Matlock as the grounds, showers and toilets facilities along with the beautiful scenery make this rally not one to be missed. Thank you officers for a marvellous rally.

West Parley Rally 2018

Well what a great rally this turned out to be, my concerns over having to use a smaller field this year turned out to be unfounded but instead it made the rally friendlier. We had the best group of ralliers who made it a such a success and of course the sunshine helped reaching temperatures of 32°, we had so many good times and laughs together. We welcomed 3 new RCA members to their first rally with us and several other who were in their first year. My thanks go to all who attended for making the rally such a pleasure to run, Pam & I would also like to thank those who helped with the Friday BBQ evening, Martin on sausage duty, Peter on Burger duty and special thanks must go to Helga a local person who played keyboard and sang for us throughout the evening and with the wine made it an enjoyable event. No going to bed at 9:00 they were still sat outside at midnight. Sunday morning came when Pam & I started cooking a full English breakfast for 32 people which went down very well, thank you Jean for breaking the eggs for me to cook.

We held a raffle in aid of the Chairman’s Charity which raised £50 many thanks to those who donated prizes and who bought tickets.

I think we all made a lot of friends and look forward to doing it all over again.

If you like the sound of this rally the venue has been booked and we are running it again 2020 including the BBQ and breakfast, Sunday 28th June to Tuesday 7th July put a note in you diary now.

Matlock Rally 2019

Happy Rally Officers Graham and Elizabeth Smith  organised a trip on a narrow boat along the Cromford canal for 20 RCA members who attended their Matlock Rally.   Members enjoyed the beautiful scenery and a running commentary during the voyage.  Members were also invited to visit the original traditional living quarters on the Birdwood and hear a bit about the family who lived on  and worked the boat and how they managed their day to day activities.  Val Scott

Mike & Mary - 58th Wedding Anniversary at Stoke Gabriel rally

Christine & Keith are off for a ride at Stoke Gabriel rally

The 2nd of May 2019 was a busy day with 54 caravans arriving at Hendra, it was early evening before everyone arrived.  I have never seen as many people attending the first Welcome Meeting and they all seemed very pleased with the site,  especially the views, the cleanliness of the site and the Shower Block.  Terry was kept busy during the rally explaining the best places to go to he has worked all over Cornwall and knows all the interesting out of the way places.

Happy ralliers returned each evening for a welcome cup of tea and biscuits at 5pm when they talked about where they had been and what they had seen.  Lots of new friendships were formed and old friendships caught up at these  sessions.  This is something Terry and I do on all the rallies we run which makes it very sociable.

We enjoyed Boules matches and proper Cornish Cream Teas on both weeks which went down well.  The Cornish Quiz was won on the first day which was a bit surprising as I had thought it quite hard.

A local pub, the Quintrell Inn provided a great carvery at a reasonable price and was greatly enjoyed on both weeks.  We also had Fish & Chips evening each week with Hendra even making us homemade Tartare sauce.  The venue has been booked for the same two weeks next year and people were even asking if they could pay their deposits as they left. Our wonderful first time Rally Assistants Ken & Lesley were amazing and hope they enjoyed the Rally as much as we did. Regards  Jacki

St. Ives Rally 2019

Grease themed night complete with popcorn and ice cream just like the old days.

A lovely family atmosphere was had at the Skegness rally. A hall was used for 3 nights for all types of party dancing, quizzes, and games. After the boules subsidised fish and chips were enjoyed by everyone.

We took 38 people to a local excellent carvery, arranged a seafront walk one evening, played knockout darts, and croquet played on the lawn.Sunday bacon and eggs were served for breakfast, a lucky van draw was held most days. Each van was given a dolly peg to decorate and we had some wonderful entrees. The weather was very kind, sunshine each day and very warm. We now look forward to the same rally in 2020.
